We founded this company on a simple, slightly controversial belief: Most dog products are designed for humans, not dogs.

Walk into any pet store, and you’ll see aisles of beige beds, grey blankets, and aesthetic toys designed to match your sofa. They look great in your living room. But to your dog? They are invisible.

The "Grey World" Problem

We started Dog is King when we realized a heartbreaking truth about our own anxious pets. When the lights go down, or when panic sets in, dogs—who are naturally red-green colorblind—often feel lost in a muddy wash of grey shadows.

That expensive grey bed you bought? To them, it blends perfectly into the floor. When they are scared, they can’t find their safe space because they simply can’t see it.

We realized that while we were treating them like royalty with treats and walks, we were leaving them in the dark when it came to their environment.

The Science of Safety

We decided to change the way we design comfort. We stopped looking at color swatches and started looking at Spectrograms.

Science confirms that Yellow (along with Blue) is the most vivid, high-contrast color in the canine visual spectrum.

That is why our flagship product, the Emotional Support Blanket, isn't beige, red, or grey. It is High-Visibility Yellow. It is designed to act as a "Visual Anchor"—a beacon of safety that cuts through the confusion and signals to your dog's brain: "Here is your safe zone."
